Jaw-Doc News Spring 2012 – What is PRGF?

“Platelets Rich in Growth Factors”

….. are a fraction of blood (plasma) that, as the name suggests, are rich in platelets and have a high concentration of growth factors.

This technology arises from a new understanding of the importance of growth factors to enhance natural bone growth and tissue healing. Growth factors are substances our bodies produce along with stem cells to stimulate healing.

Implant Course

October 25th we hosted an implant course with our Straumann implant sales representative. The speaker was Dr. Vogel who maintains a full-time private practice in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Dr. Vogel has developed and collaborated on the development of several prosthetic components and techniques currently in use in implant dentistry today. He lectures internationally on implant dentistry focusing on simplification, confidence and predictability of implant prosthetics through ideal treatment planning and team interaction. Dr. Vogel’s insight, knowledge, experience, and his willingness to share practice knowledge was extremely enlightening and I plan to bring him back for an “all day” course.
