Patient Information
Our fees are based on the costs associated with providing excellent care. This, at times, may not correlate with your insurance benefits. Your insurance should be viewed as an aid in meeting your financial obligation to our office. In most cases, you should not expect that all fees will be covered by insurance. You will also be given a treatment estimate at your initial visit. At that time, we will be happy to help answer your financial questions.

Pearls of Wisdom
We will be happy to assist in getting you insurance reimbursement by filing your initial claims based on the information provided at your initial visit. Our insurance coordinators on staff deal with many different insurance companies. Most companies offer many different dental and medical plans. Some companies combine dental and medical coverage. This insurance “alphabet soup” changes policies and guidelines regularly. At times, it is almost impossible to accurately estimate our patient's insurance coverage or co-payment. Many insurance companies will not give out fees until after the treatment is completed. Dealing with these companies can be difficult and time consuming. As a courtesy, we ask that you keep us informed of any changes to your insurance. It is important that all information about you and your insurance be correct and current. We will do our best to assist you in getting your benefits.
  • Private and Group Insurance: As a courtesy, we will file your insurance claims for you. Upon receipt of an insurance payment, any balance due will be billed directly to you. If you have deposited an excessive co-payment, it will be refunded to you promptly.
  • If Insurance Is Not Involved: If you do not have insurance coverage for our care, payment is expected at the time of treatment. We accept cash, check and major credit cards (MasterCard, Visa, and Discover).
  • Down Payments: If insurance coverage is involved we will ask for a down payment at the time of treatment. This will be discussed with you up front and will be based upon expected levels of coverage.
  • Medicare Patients: A common misconception is that Medicare will cover our surgical care because it is "surgery". Medicare does not cover dental procedures and that includes most of what we do in oral surgery. Typically anything having to do with the teeth, jaws and gums is not covered under Medicare.
  • Balances after Insurance: We allow for a 90 day grace period for insurance payments. Payment is expected on balances on accounts after this time period. Your insurance is a vehicle that you have to assist you in making payments for medical/dental expenses. You are responsible for any unpaid account balances, even if insurance payments are pending.

If you have any problems or questions, please ask our staff. They are well informed and up-to-date. Please call or contact us if you have any questions or concerns regarding your initial visit.
